Meet Tracy

Hi, I'm Tracy Jepson — entrepreneur, certified Profit First Professional, and coach. I found my flock one tile at a time, and now I spend my days helping others do the same.

My classes are warm, joyful, and never precious. Every student is a guest, and every table is community. No fluff, no hype — just good people and good tiles.

— Tracy

The 1 Bam tile with flamingo mascot

Why the pink bird?

The 1 Bam is the only tile in the entire game that doesn't show its suit literally. Instead of a bamboo stalk, it shows a bird.

That bird is our mascot — and Pink Bird Mahj Co. brings a boutique, joyful, community-first energy to a game that deserves it.

What Students Say

Tracy made learning mahjong so easy and FUN. I was intimidated by the card, but by week two I was winning hands. Now my friends and I play every Thursday!

— Susan M., Mahjong 101 grad

We booked Tracy for my sister's 50th birthday party and it was the hit of the year. She had twelve total beginners playing — and laughing — within the hour.

— Dana R., party host

Patient, organized, and joyful about the game. Tracy doesn't just teach you the rules, she teaches you to love mahjong.

— Ellen K., private student
Good Questions

FAQ

I've never played any mahjong. Can I still join?
Absolutely — beginners are my favorite! Mahjong 101 starts from zero: the tiles, the card, and the flow of the game, step by step, with a student guide included.
What's the difference between American Mahjong and other versions?
American Mahjong (or "Mahj") uses jokers, a Charleston (a fun tile-passing ritual), and an annual card of winning hands published by the National Mah Jongg League. It's social, strategic, and wonderfully addictive.
Do I need my own mahjong set or card?
Nope! I bring everything to lessons and events. If you fall in love with the game (you will), I'm happy to recommend sets and help you order the current National Mah Jongg League card.
Where do classes take place?
I teach across Colorado — classes and open play run in Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Montrose, Ridgway, and Ouray. Private lessons and events happen at your home or venue.
How many people do I need for a lesson or event?
Mahjong plays best with four, but I can teach solo students, pairs, or trios — I'll happily fill the empty seats. For events, any group size works.
